Salt Spring Winter Creek

Winter Creek on Salt Spring Island

10:15 a.m.  Stream and Greens
A picturesque Salt Spring mountain stream.
A special Sunday still life. A moving still life actually.
The stream is at its absolute best during this mild, wet winter. This image is much more detailed than can be seen on the web. High quality prints up to 5 feet tall or more are possible. Please contact me if you would like to purchase a small or large print from this image.

A February Morning at Fernwood Pier

February 25, 2016

Salt Spring February Morning

6:30 a.m. Fernwood
There was thick fog, as in 10 metre visibility, along the road to the Fernwood area this morning. But the ocean was fog free and quiet. The geese though were horrendously loud; folks along North Beach Road must have somehow gotten used to the daily alarm.

Natural State

Natural State

A stream nears the ocean. The cedars, grasses, mosses, and the haphazard fallen trees, branches and leaves remain in a natural state. This is what happens when there’s no one in charge of keeping things neat and tidy.

Winter Salt Spring Splendor

February 7, 2016

Winter Salt Spring Splendor

This somewhat unofficial trail—and by unofficial I mean it’s not marked and you have to hunt for it—is at the very end of Isabella Point Road then left to the end of Maxam Road. And, if you live on the north end of the island (what we used to call 537) you better pack a lunch for the roadtrip there. On the plus side, Cameron and I saw no one, heard only the stream nearby and the soft landing of light rain. The winter wetness illuminated the green of the moss of Mount Tuam Ecological Reserve…
