7am at Fernwood Pier, Salt Spring Island

Earlier this summer, Barbra Edwards and Fiona Duthie teamed to create the exhibition SHIFT exploring layers of perspective at Mahon Hall. It was an intriguing combination of fabric art and painting. Paintings and dresses were paired to work together…and they did. Clever show…a bit of New York on Salt Spring.

This Saturday’s look at Salt Spring homes features a unique home with two master bedroom wings. Each has tons of floor space. Behind the headboard is a large room with closet, storage, laundry and deluxe bath. The house is perched high above Ganges on a peninsula of land which juts out to provide not only privacy but also a view of both sunrise and sunset. But not both at the same time…

Sunset at East Point, Saturna Island
This is the follow-up to yesterday’s East Point Moonrise post. This photo was taken from the same spot, in the opposite direction, a minute or so later. The image has not been manipulated or enhanced, the colours are accurate.
Spectacular evening. Thank-you Saturna, I’ll see you again.

8 pm East Point, Saturna Island
A late summer trip to Saturna, so close but (by ferry) so far.
After the sun set, there were a few magical moments in the eastern sky; the clouds lit up and were reflected in the blue water. A ‘supermoon’ provided amazing ambiance. And a warm light breeze began to pattern the still ocean surface.
Spectacular really. And then we turned to look at the western sky…but that’s tomorrow’s photo of the day.
Photographs of Salt Spring Island and areas reachable by ferry and road (and sometimes off-road).
