Initially it was the light coming into this high school multi-purpose room that caught my eye. Then I noticed the concentration and focus of the kids. School District 64 (Gulf Islands) has a strong Aboriginal Education program.

1 p.m. hiking along the Coast Trail in East Sooke Park
This has to be one of the most scenic places to hike on southern Vancouver Island. And it’s actually a short drive from Salt Spring Island. We travelled from the park to the Crofton Ferry Terminal via Humpback Road and the Malahat in about 75 minutes.
