I met Jack on a cloudy day in Ganges. He was waiting on the boardwalk for his human.
Nothing tugs at the heart like memories of an old friend.

The stories about remote west coast life in the early days of Telegraph Cove are eye-opening. Many of the early buildings remain. Several of the homes and cabins on pilings along the town’s boardwalk can be rented. Some of the paint could use a touch-up. Or not.


There are lots of rapids like this and some superb waterfalls within Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park near Cameron Lake (named after a well known Westie) on central Vancouver Island.

A large ferry is dwarfed by British Columbia’s coastal mountains.
