6:55 am on the ‘Pyjama Boat’

Mayne Island Terminal in the distance as we head toward Active Pass and Tswwassen on the mainland, aboard the Queen of Nanaimo. The is the Saturday  ‘early boat’ AKA the ‘Pyjama Boat’. Salt Springers take this sailing as it makes no stops on it’s way to the Vancouver area; sometimes saves a couple of hours.

Solar Panel Installation in Progress at GISS

Gulf Islands Secondary, on the Gym roof

84 solar panels will soon cover this roof.
Note the flat panels: two sheets of tempered glass with the solar voltaic cell layer in between. A svelte solar sandwich.

First Frost

Seahorse before the Sunrise

Last Friday saw the first frost of the season at the marinas and docks in Ganges. And the beginnings of a low layer of fog (caused by the difference between sea and air temperatures) over the water. For the next month or so, the sun rises straight into Ganges harbour making early winter mornings very special.

The last rays of sunlight paint Fernwood Pier as a strong wind churns Trincomali Channel.
