Polar Opposites

I admit to being a design junkie. Whether a potato masher or a Porsche, things that work and look good doing it interest me.
So I noticed this car across the street in downtown Ganges. We don’t get that many cars like this on the Island. And, actually ‘noticed’ is an understatement, ‘barely  survived whiplash as I rubber-necked’ is probably more appropriate.

Then two walkers happened by, oblivious to the graceful lines of the Porsche, and in some ways polar opposites to the car. To complete the tableau, the window reflection shows an older fellow stopping and turning around to inspect the moment.

Life and times in a small island town.

GISS staff versus grads 2016

A 2016 grad student at Gulf Islands Secondary celebrates getting one by the staff team during a lunchtime game on the Howe Court.
Meanwhile, the two staff members aren’t quite as cheery.

End of Summer Sale

Saw this downtown and liked the application of flat black paint, coloured chalk and duct tape.

Good Morning Skeena Queen

Skein Queen at Fulford

The Skeena Queen enjoys its very own patch of morning light as the ship nears the terminal.
This BC Ferry travels from Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island to Swartz Bay (near Victoria) on Vancouver Island.

Electric Vehicle Charging Station

Electric Vehicle Charging Station

There are a number of electric vehicle charging stations (at least 6 public stations) on Salt Spring Island. And a growing number of electric cars (40?) on our little island. As pictured above, many of the electric cars are either the Nissan Leaf or the Smart EV.

The charging station above currently has two spots dedicated to EV charging, but just one charger!
