Man and Nature

A large ferry is dwarfed by British Columbia’s coastal mountains.

This is the Queen of Burnaby during a recent evening sailing from Comox to Powell River.

As mentioned earlier, Salt Spring Photos is branching out this summer with short trips to beautiful Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and area. Enjoy the ride!

Soggy Beavers on Race to Alaska

9:00 pm Team Soggy Beavers between Tent Island and Southey Point on Salt Spring Island

Nine hours out of Victoria Harbour, this cheeky team was the only contending boat to take an inshore route—Salt Spring to Port. And, despite running into a sudden lack of wind near Idol Island, Team Soggy Beavers was in 8th position when we saw them. We shouted encouragement from the shore and they hooped and hollered back.

Then the wind began to fill in and they sailed off into the sunset:

Soggy Beavers on Race to Alaska

Thanks to Dave and Beth from south of the border for alerting us to the R2AK—The Race to Alaska.
751 nautical miles, any boat type, no motors, few rules, 40 boats.
