You Take the High Road
9:00 pm Team Soggy Beavers between Tent Island and Southey Point on Salt Spring Island
Nine hours out of Victoria Harbour, this cheeky team was the only contending boat to take an inshore route—Salt Spring to Port. And, despite running into a sudden lack of wind near Idol Island, Team Soggy Beavers was in 8th position when we saw them. We shouted encouragement from the shore and they hooped and hollered back.
Then the wind began to fill in and they sailed off into the sunset:
