Another View of Crofton Mill
5:50 p.m. A different angle.

From the Office Window
Through the office window on a dark rainy day, a Pileated Woodpecker and I keep an eye on each other.
bonus: the bird was frozen on this Douglas Fir for more than six hours. Only its head was moving. I’ve read this can have something to do with that pesky hawk again. (after an altercation with a predator, the woodpecker may not return to its nest until the hawk has left the area)

Winter Morning in Ganges Harbour

Right on schedule, in early January the sun rises straight out Ganges Harbour—about 122 degrees Southeast. And does so at a very civilized time around 8 a.m. This makes for lots of gawking and traffic congestion (30 cars/hr instead of 10) on Upper Ganges Road.
