Oceanfront

Oceanfront
Just the right amount of lawn to cut: none. Looks like it might be time to rappel down and deal with a few scotch broom plants though. Recently renovated with impeccable attention to detail, this south-west facing home has spectacular water views. It’s one of my favourite Salt Spring Island homes.

Salt Spring Library at Moonset

Salt Spring Library at Moonset

Looks like the local library has gone another step in an effort to protect the public and discourage skateboarders from riding the concrete retaining walls and metal handrails. That’s a new custom fence (on the left above the steps) which curves around the concrete planters. Before the fence was there, it was possible to walk or skate along the planter walls. And it was easy to topple ten feet or more to the bottom of a flight of concrete steps against the building.

Easter Weekend Afternoon

March 26, 2016

Beach Walk

Sometimes we forget how good we have it here on the Island.

Cameron, who is on the injured list, has been moping around and was due for an interesting walk. But because of his ‘sports injury’, the usual mountain hikes were out. He’s a big fan of the intertidal zone though, so we headed out for a short beach walk. But I had forgotten it was the busiest weekend of the year. Fernwood Café was packed inside and out. There were cars on the side of the road, people walking on the road and people out on the Pier.

Five minutes down the beach, we met one person (knitting). Cameron reported there most excellent smells everywhere. And the photo above was our view. One person walking on the pier.

So, in the middle of a sunny afternoon on the busiest weekend of the year—not that crowded after all. Pretty good, even by Island standards.
