1907 Saturday Home

1907 Renovation

In the past, on Saturdays,  we’ve sometimes featured an image of a home. It’s been awhile, so here’s something a bit special. Salt Spring designers, Tim and Michael of Yorkshire Design worked their magic on a home built in 1907. Their renovation was pretty high up on the stunning scale. This home is actually in Victoria. Once the work was finished, the home went on the market and was sold in a matter of days.

In the Kitchen

Salt Spring Kitchen

1:30 p.m.
So here I was, just kicking around home thinking about something to eat. And I noticed this scene on the kitchen island.

The above is, of course, complete fiction. I did notice this scene (but not at my place) while photographing a new home for local builder Wilco Construction. Ummm…kind of nice if you like that kind of thing. And I do.

St. John's Newfoundland 1

Caution: we’ve taken some liberty with the whole island thing today.

Sequential photos created—during the dawn of digital cameras—while on an early morning wander in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The kind of place you’d go back to in a heartbeat. And the kind of place you want to check with the neighbours on both sides before getting out your paint brush.

Unless you live here…

Abandoned, I think

Abandoned, I think

Sometimes there are signs of life around this place as it seems there’s still a bit of farming going on. But the now-drooping Christmas lights didn’t come on this year and the plastic covering the door the openings has give up the ghost. The two duck sculptures however are still on display on the lower left window ledge.
