The Howe Sound Queen chugs across to Crofton in the blue light of the early morning run.

In its private patch of morning sunshine, a tug towing wood-chip barges heads for the mill at Crofton on Vancouver Island.

We made a quick stop on the Howe Sound Queen after leaving Vesuvius. The crew rapidly deployed the rescue boat and sped off to aid a…wait for it…
jet ski.
Good practice and fun for the crew (who clearly know what they were doing) and a good show for the passengers.

Low lying fog adds mystery to a morning crossing on the Howe Sound Queen.

Sliding across the ocean to Vancouver Island
Within a few minutes there was a sunrise, a rainbow and a heavy shower. Spring on the west coast.
