Solstice Moon over Chesterman Beach
The Solstice Moon is about to set over Frank Island on Chesterman Beach. Strangely, the beach is deserted at this time of day.
Royal Canadian Air Force Canso A 11007
This is the February 8, 1945 crash site of a RCAF Canso/Catalina. It’s near Radar Hill in the Pacific Rim National Park between Ucluelet and Tofino. There’s a detailed story by Dirk Septer of the crash (at this link).

* as of June 2016, the ‘trail’ from the abandoned building to the crash site was extremely muddy; it’s possible to sink your foot 6 to 12 inches into the mud—I’d wear tall rubber boots with good tread if I were going today…
