If I had a regular morning commute, my route would pass this ever-changing scene on St. Mary Lake.
Much of Salt Spring Island’s water comes from this lake. Certainly a resource worth protecting.
And the changing view is priceless.
Perfectly Clear
I think this is often the best time of day.
The dark about 45 minutes before the sun rises.
Peaceful, solitary, stunning.

A beautifully dark and damp day in the fog and low cloud of a temperate rainforest.
After more than 30 years living in the same area, I stumbled across this neighbourhood trail.

Looking South to the US of A
Early winter afternoon view from high on southern Salt Spring Island. We’re looking over Portland and Moresby islands to the right and Pender Island (with Saturna Island behind) on the left. Mount Baker and the North Cascade Mountains are putting on a snowy show down there in the USA.
The ferry in front of Portland Island is heading for Swartz Bay (near Victoria) on Vancouver Island. And, in the foreground, the Skeena Queen is chugging along towards Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island.
